The Village of Ponsanooth, Cornwall

Welcome

The village of Ponsanooth lies just of the main A393 between Redruth and Penryn. It is well known for the walk at Kennall Woods and its strong community feel. We are still lucky to have a post office and shop, a pub, a thriving village school and a chapel and church. The village is known for its Christmas lights and its Summer Fair Day.

We hope that you spend some time looking round the site, and if any of it brings back memories, then please let us known by using the contact us button and we will publish them in the 'Down Memory Lane' section. Similarly if you are a local business or organisation and would like a prescence in cyber space then feel free to contact us as well. All listings on the site are free, although you may wish to contribute to a local 'good cause' via Gary at 'The Stag Hunt'

On the Buses - Sign the petition

You may have heard that the buses through the village have changed - and not for the better.

During the day there will be only a bus into and from Truro every two hours! This will have an adverse effect on many people in the village. The changes will make it difficult to visit the doctors or dentist as well as going to or from Truro and Falmouth.

Marc Reddy, Managing Director of First Devon and Cornwall, explains, "In a move designed to fully integrate Truronian with the rest of the business, and improve the network for our customers, we are making a number of changes to the Cornish bus network from May". Strange use of the word improve! Seems that the West Briton was taken in at first by First, Changes to bus services hope to improve punctuality, but now seem to be reporting the downside - Passengers will be hit by changes to routes

If it affects you or someone close then please sign the petition in the shop. The more signatures we get the better and it will only take two minutes of your time. It's also worth emailing Julia Goldsworthy our local MP, You may also want to voice your concerns at the special First information bus that will be in Truro Lemon Quay between 27 April and 2 May or contact First via their website. Thankyou

To see the proposed timetable for the 88 click here (no longer runs through the village during the day) or the 82 click here.
